Figma File Organization

The problem

One of the biggest pain points the team had when I came on board at Lumanu was where to find the latest designs in a Figma project file.

The approach

During our first product offsite, I guided our team to create a templated structure and and we worked through a few iterations. Once we felt confident about the template, we started incorporating this into in-flight and new projects. The next step was to socialize this structure across the company, and design team members walked their respective engineering pods through the new Figma file organization which included Figma folder structure, cover pages, and Figma page organization within each file to separate drafts and work-in-progress from the versions that were handed off. As new team members joined or the team received feedback, the template continued to evolve. 

The result

After a few weeks of moving onto the new template, we had zero questions about where to find the latest designs! (And a lot of appreciative team members as they onboarded :)
